Cozy Coastal Scarves

February in Florida is cold! Or so we like to think. It may not be the frozen tundra, but when the temperature drops to 40 it feels like Antarctica to us warm-bloods. The funny thing about Florida Winters though, is temps can be freezing in the morning, and rise to the 80's by noon. So tell me, if you want to feel cozy, but not too toasty, what’s a girl to wear? Personally, I love the look of thick wool sweaters and accessories. You know, the kind the ski bunnies wear. They're so… Nordic-dreamy, Alpine-posh. But, here in Florida, we layer up for sea breezes and cold snaps more than snowfall. A lightweight scarf is sometimes all we need.

And truth be told, I have a thing for yarn. I simply must crochet or knit SOMETHING this time of year. So when the chill blew in from the North, it was time. I searched the internet for styles that could work with our weather. Net-like stitches and loose knots seemed good for keeping warm without being too hot. And this buttoned cowl looked great for tossing over t-shirts for extra fluff and flair. I craved a seafaring nautical vibe — Nantuckety, if you will. Found some cuddly yarns in coastal blues, and big rustic buttons that reminded me of driftwood. Threw in some pink, since Valentine’s Day is around the corner, and ended up with a cozy little collection. Romantic evening beach walk anyone?
